Biography
THIS YEAR: Three-time NAIA All-American goalkeeper Jill Colfer-Martinson returns for what should be an historic senior campaign … Enters the season needing just 3 shutouts to break the Cougar career shutout record and has established a record-setting pace for the best career goals-against average … Has good athletic ability … Is very vocal and a strong communicator in the back … Is technically sound in goal and comes up with the big save on a consistent basis.
2006 (Junior): Started all 23 games for the NAIA runner-up Cougars … Posted a 0.43 GAA and tallied 13 shutouts … Earned NAIA All-American second team recognition … Surrendered just 3 goals in 10 conference games, registering a 0.31 GAA and 6 cleansheets in GSAC play … Collected 55 saves, including a career-high 9 stops in Azusa Pacific’s 3-2 overtime road win at Lee (Tenn.) … Put together a 6-week stretch in which the only 2 goals she allowed came on a corner kick and a free kick, posting 9 shutouts in 12 games in the stretch.
2005 (Sophomore): Started all of the Cougars’ 22 games between the pipes … Earned NAIA All-American second team honors … Was an All-GSAC honoree … Recorded 14 shutouts during the season, including a 3-week stretch in which she blanked 6 consecutive opponents … Made 62 saves … Made a season-high 5 saves on 5 separate occasions … Allowed only 9 goals over 2,105 minutes of play which translated to a 0.38 GAA … Blanked Indiana Wesleyan, 3-0, in opening round of the NAIA Tournament.
2004 (Freshman): Garnered NAIA All-American honorable mention honors after a terrific season … Appeared in 16 games, making 14 starts … Ranked eighth in the nation, first in the GSAC, with a 0.59 goals against average … Allowed just 9 goals in over 1,381 minutes of play … Recorded 57 saves … Notched 7 shutouts including a stretch of 3 consecutive games in which she blanked Concordia, Fresno Pacific, and The Master’s … Defeated several top-20 programs throughout the season including wins over the NAIA’s No. 19-ranked Malone (Ohio) and No. 13 California Baptist … Shut out Malone (Ohio) 1-0 in her first start of the season … Had a season-high 8 saves in a 2-1 overtime win over Concordia to advance to the NAIA Region II championship game.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 4-year varsity starter for head coach John Little at Sheldon High in Sacramento, Calif. … Was named All-Delta League as a 2004 senior after posting 11 shutouts and registered a 0.52 GAA to lead the Huskies to an 11-4-5 finish and an 8-2-4 mark in Delta League play … Was a 3-time team captain.
PERSONAL: Born Sept. 11, 1986, in Mission Viejo, Calif., to Jay and Janice Colfer … Has one brother (Jeff) … Her grandfather, Frank Emitte, attended Azusa Pacific … Her father, Jay, played soccer at Western Baptist College in Salem, Ore. … Majoring in physical education … Would like to be a physical education teacher and soccer coach after graduation … Enjoys golf.
