Biography

THIS YEAR:  A 3-time All-GSAC honoree, senior Ian Leibbrandt returns as one of the top goal scorers in the conference … Has excellent speed for his size, which makes him extremely difficult to defend … Has the ability to dominate games from the front … Strikes the ball well with both feet … Reads the game very well … Can beat defenders 1-on-1 … Is speedy and relentless. 

2004:  Started 16 of the 20 games in which he played … Now sits in eighth place on the Cougars’ all-time scoring list with a career total of 80 points … Became the sixth Cougar to be named All-GSAC for 3 consecutive seasons … Once again ranked in the top 10 in the GSAC in points and goals … Recorded 29 points this past season … Scored 13 goals and added 3 assists … Scored 2 goals on 3 different occasions … Had 5 goals in the final 5 games of the season … Propelled the Cougars to a 2-1 win over Biola with a game-winning goal in the 75th minute … Recorded a pair of assists against Fresno Pacific in a 3-0 win.

2003: Started all 17 games in which he played … Named All-GSAC for the second straight year … Also received NAIA All-American honorable mention … Scored 13 goals and tallied 7 assists for 33 points, all of which led the Cougars … His 33 points and 13 goals both ranked in the top 10 in the GSAC … Notched at least 1 point in 11 of 17 games … Scored goals in 5 of the Cougars' final 6 games, tallying 18 points in that span … Had 4 multi-goal games … Factored in every goal (2 goals, 2 assists) in the Cougars' season-opening 4-0 win over Warner Pacific (Ore.) … Scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the final 2 minutes of a 2-1 win over No. 9-ranked Simon Fraser (B.C.) … Had back-to-back 2-goal efforts in wins over Christian Heritage and California Baptist … Scored 2 goals in 2 games against Westmont. 

2002: Appeared in 15 games, starting 10, including each of the final 8 games … One of 2 Cougars to earn All-GSAC honors, becoming just the third freshman in program history and first since Matt Evans in 1998 to be named All-GSAC … Led the Cougars in goals (8) and points (18) … Also registered a pair of assists … Scored his first collegiate goal in his first collegiate game after entering as a first-half substitute against Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) in the Cougars' season-opener … Added his second career goal in a 1-1 tie with eventual NAIA champion Mobile (Ala.) in the opening game of the Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) Tournament … Added a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at Hope International … Tallied 7 points, including his first career hat-trick in a 7-1 win over Christian Heritage in the season finale … Totaled 32 shots, scoring a goal every 4 shots. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 years of varsity soccer for head coaches Matt and Bruce Rowton at Moscow (Idaho) High, where he was a 2-time all-state first team selection ... Led the Bears to 3 straight state tournament appearances and 2 semifinal finishes … Scored the game-winning goal in the District championship game as the Bears went on to win the Idaho State Tournament as a 2000 sophomore … Led the Bears in scoring as a 2001 junior and 2002 senior … Was a 2-time All-Inland Empire League first team selection … Played for the Chicago Eagles Select of the Premier Development League in the summer of 2001 … Appeared as a guest player for the Central Florida United in the 2001 Charlotte Invitational, the Boise Capitals in the 2001 President's Cup and the Columbia Embajadores in the 2000 Cocoa Expo … Also played 2 seasons of basketball and ran 1 year of track (jumps, 200 and 400 meters) … Was president of the Key Club in high school as well as ASB senior class vice president … Was a member of the school newspaper and yearbook staff. 

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 20, 1983, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to Ivan (pilot) and Gloria (homemaker) Leibbrandt ... Has 1 brother (Ivan) and 1 sister (Katrina) … Majoring in liberal studies … Carried a 3.4 GPA in high school … Is a Salvation Army volunteer and is active in Young Life.
