THIS YEAR: Without a doubt the Cougars’ strongest defender, senior Jacob Ward is looking to put one final feather in his cap in what has already been an impressive career ... Is perhaps the best defender in the GSAC … Ranks 19th on Azusa Pacific’s career scoring chart with 33 points … A true left-footed back who is noted for his drive and determination ... Will move from the left side of the defense to the center … Will make another strong push for postseason honors … Is not afraid to push forward in the attack … A blue collar worker ... Very smart about the game and plays well in the air ... Has a cannon for a left foot.

2001: An All-GSAC selection … Also received NAIA All-American honorable mention … Started each of the Cougars’ 19 games … Scored 6 goals, matching his career-high, and added 1 assist for a career-high 13 points … Ranked third on the team in points … Came on strong at the end of the season adding a goal in each of the Cougars’ final 2 postseason games … Scored the second goal in the second minute of the Cougars’ 2-1 win over The Master’s College in the NAIA Region II Playoffs … Tallied the Cougars’ lone goal in a 1-1 tie to Alliant International in the Region II Finals … Netted the game-winning goal in the 86th minute of a 1-0 win over Concordia to keep the GSAC title hopes alive.

2000: Started all but one of Azusa Pacific’s 20 games as a key member of a program record-setting defense that allowed just 11 goals all season ... Distributed the ball effectively, tallying 6 assists ... Scored his only goal of the season in a 4-1 GSAC win over Concordia ... Assisted goals in consecutive GSAC games, a 4-1 victory over Christian Heritage and a 2-2 tie with Vanguard.

1999: Started all 22 games in his first season of collegiate competition ... Scored 5 goals in a 6-game stretch, including his first and second career goals in a 12-1 victory over CS Hayward ... Scored the Cougars’ lone goal in consecutive games, a 3-1 loss to The Master’s and a 2-1 loss to NCAA Div. I CS Northridge.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2-time CIF Player of the Year at Valhalla High in El Cajon, Calif... . Was a 3-time Grossmont South League honoree while leading the Norseman to an amazing 64-3-7 record in his career ... As a 1999 senior, led Valhalla to its second straight CIF title with 22 goals in 22 games for the 23-1-2 Norseman ... As a 1998 junior, named San Diego Union-Tribune All-County first team after leading Valhalla to a 22-2-2 record and the CIF title ... Also lettered in football and was named team MVP as a 1998 senior after winning county honors as a quarterback/kicker and all-league recognition as a defensive back.
