Biography

THIS YEAR: Veteran junior Nicole Hendrix looks to bounce back after a sub-par sophomore campaign ... Is 1 of 4 key pitchers in the Cougar rotation, teaming with the Alkire twins and Kris Franks to give Azusa Pacific a quality staff. 

2003: Endured a rough start to her 2003 sophomore season before settling down and posting a fine 8-2 record ... Struck out 47 in just under 73 innings of work ... Recorded 2 complete-game 4-hit shutout victories over Hope International ... Also fired a complete-game 3-hitter at Bethany in which she struck out a career-high 8. 

2002: Started her collegiate career as the Cougars' top pitcher, pitching in 24 games and working 127 innings while compiling 13-6 record ... Pitched 4 shutouts, including 2 against nationally ranked Vanguard ... Also had victories over nationally ranked Biola and Concordia. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in June of 2001 from Denver (Colo.) Christian High but played softball at nearby Thunder Ridge High since DCHS did not sponsor softball ... Was a 2-time all-state and 3-time all-league pick for Thunder Ridge ... As a senior, collected 92 strikeouts in 92 innings while walking just 9 and fashioning a 1.07 ERA ... Had near identical numbers as a junior when she was 10-4 with a 1.04 ERA and 98 strikeouts ... Was a standout in soccer at Denver Christian, lettering 4 years on the varsity team and playing a key role on the 2001 state championship squad. 

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 16, 1982, in Anaheim, Calif., to Margaret and Tom (telecommunications engineer) Hendrix ... Has 1 brother (Travis) and 1 sister (Shawna) ... Majoring in liberal studies ... Wants to be an elementary school teacher
