THIS YEAR: The Cougars' lone junior college transfer, junior Megan Carpenter should be a steady figure in centerfield … Has a good arm and is quite fast … Will be a threat on the base path and should bat in the middle of the line-up. 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Attended North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Ida., where she played catcher and outfielder both years … As a 2002 sophomore was named All-Scenic West Athletic Conference first team after batting .360 with 3 home runs, 8 doubles and 27 RBIs … Was a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases and was among the conference's top in slugging percentage (.586) … As a 2001 freshman, batted .328 with a team-leading 5 home runs and 25 runs scored to go along with 4 doubles. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Twice named All-Boarder League in softball and once in basketball while attending Lake City (Ida.) High School from which she graduated in 2000 … Batted over .365 for 3 years of her high school career … Was team captain in softball and basketball for 2 years … Holds the all-time record for most hits (12) in the Idaho state high school tournament. 

PERSONAL: Born May 5, 1982, in Coeur d'Alene, Id., to Jay Carpenter (chiropractor) and Jan Alltus … Has 1 brother (Chase) … Majoring in physical education with a minor in health … Wants to be a high school teacher and softball coach.
