Biography

THIS YEAR: The only returning pitcher for Azusa Pacific this year, senior Jodi Miller has the opportunity to become only the second Cougar ever to post consecutive 20-win seasons . . . Has good velocity and movement on her pitches . . . Has excellent control . . . Known for her tenacity and composure . . . Can also play third base and first base.

1999: Became the fourth Cougar ever to win 20 games in a season after posting a 21-13 record . . . Pitched complete games in 29 of 31 starts, recording 7 shutouts and 127 strikeouts in 239 innings of work . . . Named GSAC Pitcher of the Week after picking up a pair of wins in a GSAC sweep of Biola, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 7 in 11.1 innings of work . . . Pitched a 4-hitter, striking out 7 in a 4-0 victory over NCAA Div. II power CS Bakersfield . . . Recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts and allowed just 2 hits in a 13-0 victory over Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) . . . In a 10-1 win over La Verne, scattered 6 hits and struck out 4, while batting 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 years at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Ore. . . . As a 1998 sophomore, named team MVP after posting a 23-11 record with a 1.45 ERA . . . Tallied 147 strikeouts in 231.2 innings of work . . . . . . At the plate, batted .352 with a team-leading 10 doubles . . . Hit 1 of the team's 4 home runs last season . . . Was a 2-time All-NWAACC pick . . . Named team defensive MVP as a 1997 freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 seasons of varsity softball at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay . . . Was a 2-time All-Midwestern Conference honoree . . . Twice named team MVP.
