Biography

THIS YEAR:  The most experienced player on the roster, senior Heather Jacobson returns for her fourth and final year, bringing stability and leadership to a team that will push for a GSAC championship ... Is likely to move back to her natural outfield position.

1999:  Made the move to shortstop to fill a need for the Cougars ... Appeared in all 55 games, starting 54 ... Batted .247 on the season with 5 doubles, 2 triples, and 18 RBIs ... was third on the team with 9 stolen bases (in just 11 attempts) ... Known for her plate patience, led the team with 19 walks ... Was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs in a 14-5 victory over La Verne ... Went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in the Cougars' 5-3 victory over Menlo in the NAIA Far West Regional playoff in Costa Mesa, Calif.

1998:  Enjoyed a breakthrough season, starting 52 of the 53 games she played as a 1998 sophomore ... Batted .244 wiih a home run, 4 doubles and 15 RBIs ... Had 10 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 performance against Central College (Iowa) ... Hit her first collegiate home run, a grand slam, in the Cougars' 10-4 win over San Diego ... Was 6-for-7 in stolen base attempts.

1997:  Appeared in 34 games as a 1997 freshman ... Had 2 hits vs. Cal Lutheran for her lone multi-hit game of the campaign ... Scored a run in 5 straight contests during the first week of March.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Was a 3-sport standout (volleyball, basketball, and softball) at Kingsburg (Calif.) High ... Was a 4-year varsity softball player, and a 3-year captain for the Vikings.

PERSONAL:  Born Dec. 12, 1977, in Kingsburg, Calif. ... Played volleyball, in Australia during the winter of 1995 ... Was yearbook editor and valedictorian at Kingsburg High ... Enjoys traveling, the beach and skiing ... Liberal studies major ... Plans to teach elementary school after graduation
