Biography

THIS YEAR: Senior Jennifer Stark anchors the third base corner for the Cougar infield . . . A good clutch hitter, who hits for average . . . A very good defensive third baseman . . . Can play third base, outfield and even catch if necessary.

1999: Started all 54 games she played . . . Finished second on the team in at-bats (167) and RBIs (30) while batting .293 with 12 doubles . . . Compiled a pair of 6-game and 5-game hitting streaks . . . Over a 5-game stretch, batted 10-for-17 (.10-for-17) with 2 doubles, 3 walks, 7 RBIs, and 5 runs scored . . . Had 14 multiple-hit games, including a pair of 2-hit games in 3 NAIA Far West Regional tournament games . . . Went 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs in a 21-4 trouncing of Pomona-Pitzer . . . Made consistent contact, striking out just 12 times in 167 at-bats.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 seasons at Long Beach (Calif.) City College . . . As a 1998 sophomore, named all-state at third base . . . Batted a team-high .342 and led the Vikings to the South Coast Conference championship with a 38-11 record and a second place finish in the state championship tournament . . . Had 23 RBIs in 46 games to go along with a team-leading 7 doubles . . . Was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts . . . As a 1997 freshman, batted just .186, playing primarily in a reserve role in 42 games for the 48-21 Vikings.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 years of varsity softball and soccer at El Segundo (Calif.) High, from which she graduated in 1996 . . . Was a 2-time All-Ocean League first team pick as a catcher . . . As a senior, named El Segundo High Athlete of the Year . . . Was a 3-time team MVP . . . In soccer, received all-league recognition as a senior.

PERSONAL: Born June 29, 1978, in Torrance, Calif., to David and Shiela Stark . . . Is 1 of 3 children . . . Majoring in physical education . . . Wants to teach and coach on the high school level . . . Enjoys country music and writing poetry.
