Biography

1998: After spending time at shortstop second base and first base in her first 3 seasons as a Cougar, senior Jennifer Hendry will be a fixture at second in 1998 . . . Has occasional home-run power, but is also a great RBI producer . . . A quiet leader . . . Figures to bat sixth . . . A team player with her versatility.

LEHMAN’S LYRIC: "Jennifer has a good bat and has been a great hitter for us. She gives us a good combination of power and clutch hits. She will be working hard on her range at second base after playing all over the field the past 3 years. Jen’s key is mental, she needs to believe in herself because she has the ability."

1997: Steady, versatile player who earned All-GSAC honors for the first time as a 1997 junior, while playing first and second base . . . Started 55 of the Cougars’ 63 games. . . Rebounded from a sophomore season where she hit just .241, to hit .310 (63-for-172) with 36 RBIs, fourth on the team . . . Set an Azusa Pacific record with 6 RBIs in a game vs. CS San Bernardino, when she also crushed 2 HRs, including the Cougars’ lone grand slam of the year . . . Held a .976 fielding percentage, second among infielders, with just 6 errors . . . Drew 9 walks during a 6-game period in early April, including 3 games with 2 walks apiece, and 27 for the year, second on the club . . . Pounded out a season-high 8-game hitting streak (10-for-20) in early March . . . Went on to record 3 hitting streaks of 4 or more games . . . Recorded 12 multiple-hit games, including 3 against both Point Loma and SCC.

1996: Batted .241 (34-for 141) overall as a 1996 sophomore . . . Was third on the team with 21 walks . . . Started 53 of the 55 games she played . . . Played second base, shortstop and first base . . . Went 3-for-6 with an RBI in an early-season doubleheader sweep of San Diego . . . Went 4-for-5 in a series vs. Point Loma, with 2 RBIs . . . Had a .335 on-base percentage, with 34 hits, 2 doubles, and 11 RBIs.

1995: Appeared in 26 games as a 1995 freshman, starting 23 at either shortstop or second base . . . Batted .293 with a pair of doubles, triples and home runs . . . Was 4-for-4 with 3 runs, an RBI and a home run in the Cougars’ victory over Pacific Christian . . . Had 3 RBIs in the victory over Carleton (Minn.) . . . Her first collegiate home run was a 2-run shot in the top of the eighth to give the Cougars a 4-2 victory at San Diego . . . Committed just 5 errors in 71 chances at shortstop.

A.B. MILLER HIGH: Was a 4-year varsity player at A.B. Miller High in Fontana, Calif. . . . As a 1992 sophomore, was all-league honorable mention . . . As a 1993 junior and 1994 senior received all-league second team honors . . . Also lettered in volleyball.

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 29, 1976, in Loma Linda, Calif., to Warren and Barbara Hendry . . . Majoring in psychology with a sociology minor, with the hopes of entering into marriage and family counseling . . . Serving as a resident advisor in student housing . . . Enjoys dancing and cooking
