Biography

1998:Senior Jennifer Mahan begins her second year at Azusa Pacific and will start in center field, becoming the veteran leader in a young outfield . . . A speedster on the bases who will slap to reach the base paths . . . Will leadoff and look to run more than in 1997 . . . A physically strong player who isn’t afraid to get dirty.

LEHMAN’S LYRIC: "Jennifer’s main role is to get on base and make things happen. We want her to take chances and be aggressive on the bases. She is a vocal outfielder, and we need that with our young outfielders. She is working on her reactions and her instincts on the bases as well as her slap hitting to reach base often."

1997: An All-GSAC honoree, established a school record with 5 hits against UC Riverside . . . Swiped 10 bases in just 12 attempts . . . Was second on the team with a .989 fielding percentage, making just 1 error in 88 chances . . . Put together 2 7-game hit streaks, one in March and another in April . . . Pounded out 16 multiple-hit games, including the aforementioned 5-for-5 performance against UC Riverside.

SOUTHWESTERN OREGON CC: Played 2 years at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Ore. . . . Named All-NWACC first team as a 1996 sophomore, while batting .438 . . . Named Offensive Player of the Year . . . Named All-NWACC second-team as a freshman . . . Participated in the Raccoon dance team and was the choreographer.

MARSHFIELD HIGH: Prepped at Marshfield High, in Coos Bay, Ore., where she graduated in 1994 . . . Was a 4-year varsity softball letter-winner . . . Named All-Midwestern Conference first-team player senior season . . . Honored as the most inspirational player after her junior and senior seasons . . . Earned honorable mention all-state recognition as a junior.

PERSONAL: Born July 25, 1976, in Klamath Falls, Ore. . . . Enjoys aerobics, dancing and volleyball . . .Known as "Bug". . . Majoring in physical education with a coaching emphasis . . . Hopes to coach softball and dance and teach.
