Wallwork Named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific freshman quarterback Laki Wallwork was named the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week following his performance in the Cougars' 35-17 victory over Whittier.

Making his collegiate debut Saturday night at Citrus Stadium, Wallwork accounted for 135 yards of total offense and three rushing touchdowns to help Azusa Pacific earn its first victory since the football program returned to competition this fall.

Wallwork was perfect through the air, completing 5-of-5 passes, while using his legs to find the end zone three times.

The freshman helped spark an Azusa Pacific offense that produced 390 total yards against the Poets. The Cougars scored 14 points in both the second and third quarters to build a 28-10 advantage before closing out the 35-17 victory.

The performance came in Azusa Pacific's first home game since returning to the gridiron in 2026. The Cougars last competed during the 2019 season before the program's hiatus.

Wallwork's conference honor follows the first appearance of his collegiate career and marks another milestone in the opening weeks of Azusa Pacific's return to football.
