WHITTIER, Calif. – Azusa Pacific's men's soccer team made it a complete sweep of the day against the Whittier Poets, earning a 3-0 victory on the road at Memorial Stadium.

The scoring began in the 19th minute.  Off a corner kick, the cross in was headed out to the top of the box, where Osmin Carranza laid a ball to his left, finding Joshua Lugo.  Lugo's low shot found its way through multiple players who were shielding the keeper and into the lower right corner of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Twenty minutes later, another continued play off a corner would net another goal.  The cross again found its way to Lugo, who fired a shot at the keeper.  The shot was initially saved, but the rebound bounced directly off Leke Ademola and into the net, making the score 2-0 in the Cougars' favor.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, the Cougars struck again on a counterattack.  Mario Shuteriqi had the ball on a fast break.  He found Carranza free in the middle of the field, who then slotted a ball through to Ademola, who calmly struck a ground ball past the keeper and into the bottom right corner again to put away any thoughts of a comeback.

Ademola has now scored nine goals in the Cougars' last four games.  Alexis Rodriguez had a busy night, but still made five saves to earn the shutout victory.  The Cougars outshot the Poets for the game by a 25-8 margin, and had eight corner kicks to the Poets' one.  Azusa Pacific is unbeaten in its last five games this season, and has outscored its opponents 27-4 during that streak (4-0-1).

Now 4-1-1 on the season, the Cougars will return home for a Tuesday night contest against Stanton University.  Kickoff against the Elks is set for 7:00 p.m.
