Cougars secure doubles point and control key singles courts to earn conference win in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — No. 37 Azusa Pacific men's tennis continued its strong run Saturday, defeating Point Loma 5–2 on the road at the PLNU Tennis Courts to improve to 16–4 on the season.

The Cougars established early momentum by claiming the doubles point. The No. 1 tandem of Mathys Pinoit and Soeren Grandke delivered a 6–4 victory, while Joan Crespo and Michael Marci secured a 6–4 win at No. 3 to clinch the point. The No. 2 match went unfinished.

Azusa Pacific carried that edge into singles, where the Cougars won four of six courts.

Despite Point Loma striking first at No. 2 singles, the Cougars responded quickly. Jacob Rudd-Hicks evened the match with a dominant 6–1, 6–3 win at No. 6, and No. 15 Soeren Grandke followed with a commanding 6–0, 6–4 victory at No. 1 to swing momentum back in APU's favor.

Joan Crespo added another key point at No. 5 with a 6–4, 6–2 win, and David James Brownlee delivered one of the most pivotal performances of the day at No. 4, rallying in a three-set battle and closing out a super tiebreak to clinch the match.

Point Loma picked up its second point at No. 3 singles, but Azusa Pacific had already secured the dual victory behind its depth across the lineup.

Order of finish (singles): 2, 6, 1, 5, 4, 3
