Azusa Pacific softball completed the doubleheader sweep at Cal State San Bernardino on Tuesday afternoon.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Azusa Pacific completed the sweep at Cal State San Bernardino today, winning the first game 10-1 before taking the second game 3-0. Caitlin DeCanio had two home runs in the first game, collecting four RBI, while Aly Montesino went 4-for-6 with two RBI on the day. GAME ONE: Azusa Pacific 10, Cal State San Bernardino 1

The Cougars jumped ahead early when DeCanio blasted an opposite field home run to secure a 2-0 advantage. The Coyotes were able to get a run back in the third inning, but DeCanio homered once again to give Azusa Pacific a 4-1 lead.

The Cougars exploded offensively in the seventh inning. Sakarah Buckner, Mia Alvarez and Montesino all singled to load the bases with no outs. DeCanio walked to give Azusa Pacific a 5-1 lead, followed by Bella Fraser who's one out 2RBI single gave the Cougars a 7-1 advantage.

The scoring did not stop there, as Izzy Rivera's walk loaded the bases once again and Kinsey Erickson's fielders choice followed by Buckners single up the middle gave Azusa Pacific a 9-1 advantage. The Cougars scored their sixth run of the inning and 10th of the game via passed ball.

Cal State San Bernardino was able to get a runner to second base in their bottom half of the seventh, but nothing came from it, giving Azusa Pacific the first game victory by a final score of 10-1.

Castillo threw four innings in relief, giving up no runs while only allowing three hits and striking out two.

GAME TWO: Azusa Pacific 3, Cal State San Bernardino 0

It was Azusa Pacific who got an early lead once again in the first inning. Hailey Burns led off the game with a walk and then stole second. With one out, Montesino doubled to left center to score Burns and give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage.

The Cougars scored two more in the third inning when Burns drew another walk to put a runner on for Alvarez, who drove a ball over the fence in center field to collect her first homerun of the year and give Azusa Pacific a 3-0 lead over the Coyotes.

That was all the scoring Korstrom needed as she threw a complete game shutout, her second of the year. This was Korstroms third win this season as she currently has a .26 ERA and ranks second in the PacWest with 25 strikeouts.
