Narrow Defeat

Azusa Pacific men's soccer fell 1-0 to Concordia in a non-conference match on the road Wednesday evening.

IRVINE, Calif. - Azusa Pacific men's soccer fell 1-0 to Concordia in a non-conference match in Irvine on Wednesday evening. Despite the loss, the Cougars out-shot the Golden Eagles 14-8, with six shots on goal compared to Concordia's two.

How it Happened: The Golden Eagles came up with the first shot on goal in the game in the 20th minute, but Cougars goalkeeper Alexis Rodriguez collected the save to halt the Golden Eagles attack. Within the next 15 minutes, Azusa Pacific had two shots of their own by Issaka Salifu and Juancarlos Rodriguez, but the Cougars weren't able to convert the offensive press as both shots were saved at the net.

Four more shots on goal came for Azusa Pacific through the remainder of the half, but Concordia was able to stop the Cougars presence in their final third and send the game into halftime tied at zero a-piece.

After the half, both teams were limited in opportunities to find the back of the net. But after just their second shot on goal in the game, Concordia was able to find the golden goal, taking a 1-0 lead in the 75th minute.

Sean Romo had a shot on goal in the final minutes attempting to find the equalizer, but his shot was saved once again.
