GAME ONE: Azusa Pacific 2, Biola 4
It was the Cougars who got on the board first as they scored two in the first inning. Izzy Rivera doubled in Carley Gay and then a fielder's choice from Mia Alvarez allowed Rivera to cross home to take a 2-0 lead.
That lead would only hold till the second inning when Biola pushed three across to take a 3-2 lead over the Cougars. The lead for the Eagles would double in the fourth as they crossed home once again to take a 4-2 lead.Â
The fifth inning looked promising for Azusa Pacific as they got runners to second and third, but Biola was able to induce a pop up on the infield to end the Cougar's threat.Â
Azusa Pacific went down in order in the final two innings to drop the first game by a final score of 4-2.Â
Rivera went 2-for-3 in the game, with an RBI and a walk.Â
GAME TWO: Azusa Pacific 2, Biola 3
It was a pitchers duel in game two of today's doubleheader, as Cougars starter Sydnie Sahhar and Biola's starter each threw six scoreless innings. The game was at a deadlock with not much action on either side before Jaelah Burell unloaded on a pitch, sending it over the left field wall to give Azusa Pacific a 2-0 advantage in the top of the seventh inning.Â
Although two runs was not enough to surrender the Eagles offense, as Biola was able to score three unanswered in the bottom of the seventh to stun Azusa Pacific, as they dropped the second game by a final score of 3-2.Â
The Cougars collected six hits throughout the contest as Kinsey Erickson and Caitlin DeCanio each had multi-hit games.Â
