Azusa Pacific is the No. 2 seed for the upcoming 2022 NCATA Championships, which will be held April 28-30 in Eugene, Oregon (hosted by the University of Oregon). The eight-team, single-elimination tournament will begin on Thursday, April 28 with four quarterfinal matchups. The semi finals are set for Friday evening, while the National Championship meet will be contested on Saturday evening. National individual event finals are scheduled for Saturday morning.

The Cougars, who went 5-1 in the regular season, will take on No. 7 Fairmont State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 28 at 1:30 pm (P.T.). Fairmont State went 9-1 this season, and the Falcons won their third-consecutive Mountain East Conference Championship.

Azusa Pacific is eager to begin competition at the Championships, as the Cougars last competed on March 25 at Oregon. In the Cougars' five wins this season, they have scored 275 points or higher in each meet, and they beat their opponents by an average of 24 points. Head coach Kara Willard, who is in her second season as the helm of the program, is able to lean on a core group of experienced veterans, such as Hannah Alonzo, Jacie Van de Zilver and Jessica Gill, to set the tone and lead the squad on the mat.

Azusa Pacific will enter the 2022 Championships with valuable experience, as 24 of the 31 athletes on the Cougars' roster were on the 2021 team, which finished as the national runner-up last season.

Tickets for the Championships can be purchased here, and for those unable to attend, there will be a live stream available (link to live stream will be posted to the schedule page when available).
