Azusa Pacific women's soccer had five players earn All-PacWest distinction which was announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. Mackenzie Coleman was named to the first team, while Bethany Tee, Katie Prado and Maddie Williams were named to the second team. To round out the honors, Gianna Ocello was named to the third team. "All well deserved and proud of their hard work." said head coach Brooke Lincoln. "These awards are team awards. If we aren't successful on the field, these players don't get individual recognition."
ALL-PACWEST FIRST TEAM
A big reason for the Cougars success on the pitch this season was Coleman, who collected her second All-PacWest first team honor, earning this distinction last season as well. She anchored the backline for Azusa Pacific as she started all 17 games and only sat out for four minutes of the entire season. She had a hand in 10 shutouts for the Cougars and 13 games where there were only one or fewer goals scored against them. She also contributed to the Cougars attack on offense, scoring one goal, which was a crucial one in a 2-1 victory at Cal Poly Pomona and provided two assists while collecting six shots on goal.
ALL-PACWEST SECOND TEAM
Tee was selected to the All-PacWest second team after earning third team conference honors last season. At forward, she started and played in 15 games for the Cougars, totaling 1038 minutes on the pitch. Tee led the team with seven goals and had two assists on the season. She had a team-high 47 shots with 24 on goal over the course of the year. She collected five game-winning goals which was the best in the conference and recorded a brace in a shutout victory over Hawaii Pacific, and also collected the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Cal State Los Angeles.
Prado was tabbed a second team selection, which is her first All-PacWest recognition of her career. At center mid, she provided much of the play making for the Cougars this season. She started all 17 games and totaled 1252 minutes on the pitch. She had the second-highest amount of shots on the team with 34 and shots on goal with 16. Collecting one goal on the season, she played an integral part in the team's success contributing to both offense and defense.
Williams also collected second team recognition which was the first conference honor of her career. In goal, she started 15 games for the Cougars this season, totaling 1259 minutes which rank second on the team. She led the conference in shutouts per game (7) and contributed to 11 games where there were only one or fewer goals scored against them. Collecting 50 saves on the year with only 13 goals against, she compiled a SV% of 79% in goal.
ALL-PACWEST THIRD TEAM
Ocello collected her first All-PacWest recognition of her career, landing on the third team. At center back, she had a breakthrough season, contributing to the strong defensive showing that the Cougars had this year, playing a huge part in the success of Azusa Pacific's backline. She started 11 of the 13 games she played in, totaling 1035 minutes on the pitch. Ocello had a part in six of the seven clean sheets the Cougars had on the season with nine games where there were one or fewer goals scored against them.
Lincoln will be returning four out of the five players honored in Prado, Ocello, Tee and Williams as they will be an integral part of the teams success in 2023.
