OAKLAND, Calif. -- For the second consecutive night, Azusa Pacific earned a road victory in straight sets, defeating Holy Names on Tuesday evening. The Cougars are now 15-4 overall (10-1 PacWest), and winners of 12 of their last 13 contests.

How it Happened: With set one tied at 6-6, Azusa Pacific took seven of the next eight points to surge ahead by a 13-7 lead. For the most part, Holy Names prevented the Cougar lead from getting out of hand in the first set, even trimming the margin down to as little as two points late (20-18), but a Radisic kill started a 5-0 run that allowed the Cougars to take the first set by a 25-18 score.
Holy Names led early in the second set at 5-4, but a kill by Palmbush and an attack error by the Hawks put Azusa Pacific up 6-5, a lead which the Cougars were able to sustain throughout the set. The Hawks were able to pull within one point on three occasions, including as late as 18-17. Azusa Pacific would win seven of the final eight points in the set to claim the 2-0 match lead.
Looking to close the door on the match in the third set, Azusa Pacific flipped an early 7-6 deficit into a 15-8 lead following a 9-1 run. During the stretch, Radisic delivered four kills to lead the Cougars. Over the remainder of the set, Azusa Pacific was able to maintain a cushion of three points or more, eventually taking the set by a 25-18 and the match overall. The third set was Azusa Pacific's most efficient, as the Cougars posted a team hitting percentage of .325 with 15 kills on 40 attempts and two errors.
By the Numbers: The Cougars finished with a team hitting percentage of .274 over the three sets, recording 42 kills on 113 attempts with 11 errors. The 11 errors ties the Cougars' third lowest total this season. Defensively, the Cougars finished with 16 block assists and 58 digs.
Up Next: Azusa Pacific will finally return home this Friday (Nov. 5), as Point Loma visits the Felix Event Center for a 6:00 pm match. It will be the Cougars' first home contest since September 29. Friday will also be the second meeting of these two teams this season, as Azusa Pacific claimed a 3-1 road win at Point Loma on October 15.
