MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – The Cougars were back in action on Thursday, competing on the second day of the 2020 PCSC Championships at East Los Angeles College.

In the first finals event of the day,
Hannah Frey turned in a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle, swimming a season best time of 5:01.71 and earning 26 points for Azusa Pacific.
Riley Smith scored another 17 points for the Cougars in the event, as she finished 10th with a time of 5:05.72. Earlier in the day,
Delanie Gearing turned in a personal best swim in the prelims of the 500 free, posting a time of 5:11.78.

Amanda Anderson scored 24 points for the Cougars in the 200 IM, finishing sixth with a finals time of 2:07.05. In the prelims of the 200 IM,
Tessie Scavone swam a personal best time of 2:10.38. Scavone followed up the performance by scoring 15 points in the finals for the Cougars, finishing in 12
th place with a time of 2:10.51.

The day wrapped up with the 200 freestyle relay, in which Azusa Pacific placed seventh. Frey, Smith,
Sydney Benveniste, and
Emily Rigsby combined to finish in a time of 1:38.81, earning 46 points for the Cougars in the event.

Tim Kyle is pleased with the way his team has performed through the first two days, "It was another strong day of racing for us! We are focused and competing well, I am looking forward to what the next two days bring for our team!"

Heading into day three, Azusa Pacific is third overall with a total of 408 points. The Cougars will be right back at it on Friday, for the third of four days at the Championships being held at East Los Angeles College.
