Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific women's soccer defeated San Francisco State 3-1 Saturday afternoon. The Cougars were able to come from behind in the victory as they scored three consecutive goals to secure the win. Azusa Pacific remains unbeaten on the road this season as they are 2-0-1.
"I am very proud of the girls and the way they responded when we found ourselves down early," head coach Brooke Lincoln said, "We felt good about the game plan going into the match and the girls were able to execute on several of the things we asked them to do."
The Cougars allowed a goal in the 22nd minute but responded before halftime. Randi Macadangdang capitalized on a Gator mistake in the 32nd minute that allowed her to have a one-on-one with the San Francisco State goalkeeper. Macadangdang's goal tied the game and it remained 1-1 through the rest of the first half.
The Cougars then took the lead off of a beautiful strike from Jordan Hill in the 61st minute. Hill's shot went over the outstretched reach of the Gator goalkeeper and found the top left corner from just outside of the 18-yard box. Azusa Pacific then added to its lead as Macadangdang had a strike that found the back of the net from distance for her second of the match. Amy Bishop set up Macadangdang on the goal, which was Bishop's second assist of the season. The Cougars then protected the two-goal lead for the next 24 minutes of play to secure their third victory in the first five games of the season.
Among other standouts, Noanne Rosse played 44 minutes off of the bench for the Cougars. "Noanne is a different maker for us on the field. Her composure and vision is first class," Lincoln said.
"Today was a great team effort after 110 min Thursday," Lincoln said, "We are looking forward to getting home and playing at home next week." Azusa Pacific will return home for its next match against Point Loma this Thursday, September 26th. Kick off is set for 7pm at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
