Azusa Pacific was swept by #9 Concordia on Saturday afternoon, dropping game one by a 13-0 margin, followed by a 5-0 loss in the second game of the day.

Concordia wasted no time getting ahead, as the Eagles scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning, including four runs before an out was recorded. The Eagles had six hits in the inning, and capitalized off of four errors by the Cougar defense. Concordia would add two more runs in the second inning.

Kat Ung started the game and took the loss. Senior
Megan Mejia came on in relief and threw 2.2 innings. Freshman
Jahzell Estrada took over in the circle for Mejia, and she went two scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, while forcing three flyouts and three groundouts.

Offensively, the Cougars were stifled by the Concordia pitching duo of Callie Nunes and Erika Morris. Azusa Pacific's lone hit came from senior
Cayla Broussard, who led off the bottom of the first inning with a single.

Following a scoreless first and second-inning, Concordia broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the third inning, as Megan Massa doubled in two runs to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Concordia added two more runs in the sixth inning, and one more in the seventh.

Cayla Broussard had three of the Cougars' five hits in the game. Senior
Melanie Abzun and
Daniella Toschi each had one hit in the game. Sophomore
Amanda Woods drew two walks in the game.

Senior Raqcual Espinoza threw all seven innings for the Cougars in game number two. Espinoza allowed 12 hits, while striking out three batters.

Up Next: Azusa Pacific, 3-7 overall and 0-2 in PacWest play, will head north for its first PacWest road trip of the season. The Cougars will play Academy of Art on Friday, Mar. 1, with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 2. Azusa Pacific will then play doubleheaders at Dominican on Monday, Mar. 4 and Tuesday, Mar. 5.
