Quotable:
"It's always a great feeling to get a win against your rival. It's not only a good feeling to start out strong in conference play, but also in the Cornerstone Cup series too." -Head Coach

How It Happened:
Azusa Pacific started fast with an impressive 25-22 first set win, as the Cougars registered a match high of 20 kills in the set. A late kill by Jorgenson (assisted by
Mina Andjelkovic) gave Azusa Pacific its largest lead of the set 22-15. The Eagles rallied back with a 6-1 run to trail the Cougars 21-23, but Jorgenson secured the first set with another kill late in the stretch.
The Cougars couldn't carry the early momentum to a second set win. The Eagles held Azusa Pacific to a .070 attack percentage on the set and pulled away from a one-point margin (19-18) with an 6-2 run to close out the set by a 25-20 margin.
Neither team led by more than two points in the third set until Wagenveld sparked a 6-0 run, giving Azusa Pacific the upper hand heading down the stretch. Biola never recovered as Wagenveld continued show strong play receiving four more kills late in the frame to secure another set victory for the Cougars.
Azusa Pacific jumped out early in the fourth frame by taking the first two points off of a couple Biola errors. The Eagles tried to rally back, but the Cougars answered back with an impressive .464 hitting percentage as Jorgenson, Miller, Radisic, and Wagenveld each finished with double figures in kills to close out the match 25-17.
What's Next:
The Cougars will be back on the road this upcoming week as they travel to San Rafael, Calif. to take on Dominican for a 7:00 p.m. matchup on October 11.
