Azusa Pacific women's soccer was defeated by Concordia 2-0 in PacWest action Saturday afternoon. The Cougars allowed the first goal just before halftime before allowing the second late in the game. The Cougars and Eagles went back and forth in the second half as both teams accumulated five shots apiece in the final 45 minutes.
"I thought we responded much better to the physical play this time around," head coach Brooke Lincoln said, "we were expecting it and I think the girls handled it well, and I was pleased with the physical play today."
The Eagles fouled the Cougars 22 times in the game which is the most amount of drawn fouls so far this season for Azusa Pacific. Earlier this season, the Eagles fouled the Cougars 17 times in the 2-1 overtime win for Concordia.
Among standouts for the Cougars, freshman midfielder Katie Prado started for the second time this season and had two shots on goal while playing 70 minutes. Senior forward Emmy Koflanovich accumulated three total shots while one was on target.
Azusa Pacific still leads the overall series with Concordia as they are now 21-6-1 in matchups between the two teams. Azusa Pacific continues conference play as the three Hawaii schools will travel to Azusa. The first matchup will be between the Cougars and Sharks of Hawaii Pacific next Saturday, October 26th. Kick off is set for 1:00pm at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
