Cougars Drop Two in Final Games of Dixie Series

GAME 1: Dixie State 7, Azusa Pacific 2

Kat Ung got her fifth start of the season, where she struck out four Trailblazers and Gaby Grabowski entered the game in the fifth inning to close for the Cougars.

The Trailblazers were the first team to cross the plate, they started the game off with timely hitting in the first and third inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Azusa Pacific's freshman, Amanda Woods went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored the Cougars two runs in the fourth inning when she hit a double to left field that scored Erinn Jaramillo and Kayla Jimenez to tie the Trailblazers 2-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Trailblazers answered back and drew a walk to score, then with bases loaded Dixie State hit a double to score two more and take a 5-2 lead over the Cougars before the inning came to an end.

The Trailblazers scored two more times in the fifth and sixth to close out game one 7-2.

GAME 2: Dixie State 15, Azusa Pacific 1

Dixie State was the first to score in the final game of the series, they scored three runs in the first inning to set the tone for the rest of the game.

Emily Moran led the Cougars at the plate going 2-for-2, she hit in Kayla Jimenez for the team's lone run of the game.

The Trailblazers outscored the Cougars in the final two and a half innings of the game to win 15-1 in five innings.
