Lights Out In The Felix Event Center

Azusa Pacific hit 14 three-pointers in a 93-45 win over Notre Dame de Namur

AZUSA, Calif. -- After shooting 58 percent from behind the three-point line in the first half, Azusa Pacific cruised to its second consecutive Pacific West Conference victory with a 93-45 win over Notre Dame de Namur Saturday afternoon in the Felix Event Center.

How It Happened: The Cougars showed outstanding team basketball with hot hands from all around, shooting a combind 11-for-19 from behind the arc to put the game out of reach early. Freshman guard Lydia Nieto hit a pair of the Cougars' six three-pointers in the first quarter, and Azusa Pacific built its lead with unselfish basketball evidenced by 18 assists on all 18 field goals made in the opening half.

As the second frame unfolded, the Cougars built a lead as large as 49 points with 3:09 left in the game. Azusa Pacific outscored NDNU by a 17-5 margin in fast break points and got a total of 42 points in bench scoring. For the game, the Cougars finished with 27 assists on 32 made field goals.

Quotable: "I was very pleased to see how our team shared the ball with each other. We played with a good flow the entire game and were fortunate enough to be consistent in our shots from the three-point line. It was a great way to start conference play with two home wins, but we want to keep this same intensity with five big road games coming up." - head coach T.J. Hardeman

Azusa Pacific Standouts: Savanna Hanson had another stellar game for the Cougars, scoring a season-high 23 points for her eighth straight double figure scoring effort. Also scoring a season-high was Rachel Bozlee with 17 points, which included five three-pointers, while freshman guard Lydia Nieto netted a season-high 10 points. Cierra Roufosse added a 20-point game to go with eight rebounds.

Notre Dame de Namur Standouts: Anaya Rodisha was the Argonauts' leading scorer, finishing with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double, sand Abigail Walsh joined her in double figures with 14 points and six rebounds. Notre Dame de Namur finished the game shooting just 26 percent (14-for-53) overall including a 13 percent (2-for-16) clip from three-point range.

What's Next: Azusa Pacific ventures on the road for the first time in PacWest play for a visit to Concordia in Irvine on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
