AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific used its explosive attack to maintain its position at the top of the PacWest standings with a 4-1 victory over Holy Names Saturday afternoon. The Cougars were in control of the match throughout, posting a 28-2 shot advantage, with both of Holy Names' shots coming in the first half.

The Cougars opened the scoring early in the 6
th minute, as freshman Gregoire Diep received a pass from freshman
Gabriel Costa, and connected on a 25-yard strike. The goal was Diep's fourth of the season, and Costa's ninth assist of the year.

In the 34
th minute, Holy Names responded with an Edwin Hernandez goal to tie the score at 1-1. Four minutes later, Azusa Pacific took the lead for good with the game-winning goal by sophomore
David Kwinn. Kwinn was assisted by Costa, who crossed a ball from the left side of the box for his second assist of the match, and Kwinn's second goal of the season.

Diep struck for the second time in the match in the 50
th minute, scoring on a free kick from 23 yards out for his fifth goal of the season. In the 75
th minute, Diep was at the center of the Cougar attack once again, finding junior
Arturo Astorga for his seventh goal of the season.

Diep finished the match with two goals and an assist, while Costa had two assists in the match to push his season assist total to 10. Costa ranks second in the PacWest in scoring with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists.

The Cougars now hold a 10-1-1 overall record with a perfect 5-0 mark in PacWest play heading into a matchup with Fresno Pacific on Thursday, October 18 at 5:00 p.m.
