Cara Scammon scored the Cougars first goal of the season in the second minute. The junior collected a cross from Casey Thompson and hammered the ball into the back of the net.
Near the end of the opening stanza the Wildcats had a flurry of activity in their offensive third but couldn't find the back of the cage. A header by Sarah Emigh in the 42nd minute hit the crossbar.

Emile Allum hit the post with a blast in the 94th minute before Chico State ended the game moments later. Similar to the first Wildcat goal, the home team scored off a rebound. Pooja Patel shot from the right side was tip by Zoey Bauman but the rebound went to Woods who put home the game winner.
