AZUSA, Calif. - The No. 2 seeded Azusa Pacific Cougars earned a 3-1 victory in the NCAA West Regional matchup against fifth-seeded California Baptist Lancers.
With the win, the Cougars will move on to play the winner of UC San Diego or Dixie State, and the Lancers will play the loser of Cal Poly Pomona or Chico State. Both games will be on Friday.

Justin Gomez broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run homerun giving Azusa Pacific starting pitcher Billy Oxford all the run support he needed.
Oxford threw a complete game for the Cougars, allowing just six hits and one earned run. The righthander struck out seven during his third complete of the season. Lancers starting pitcher Andrew Bernstein took the loss, going seven innings and allowing three earned runs.
Along with the two runs batted in by Gomez, the Cougars also received a solo homerun from Michael Staudinger in the second frame to get the scoring started. The Lancers claimed their only run on a solo home run from Bryce Macy in the fourth frame.
