BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Cougars fell behind early and never could respond.
Seattle Pacific took the lead from the get-go and never relented in posting a 75-49 victory against Azusa Pacific.
"Give credit to Seattle Pacific they played really well and caused us to struggle," head coach T.J. Hardeman said. "Unfortunately, it is tough to have a learning experience during a loss but that's what we are going to have to do."
During the first two quarters the Cougars were held to single digit points in each frame. During those first two periods, Azusa Pacific was held to five made fields on their 28 attempts (17.8 percent). While the Falcons didn't shoot the lights out in the opening half, they connected went 12-of-30 from the floor en route to a 31-17 halftime edge.
Coming out of the break, Azusa Pacific had a solid third quarter as they cut their deficit down to six points after Tara Casey hit a three-pointer. Down 42-36 with 3:33 the Cougars looked to be in prime position for a comeback. However, the Falcons scored six of the final seven points in the quarter to take an 11-point (48-37) lead into fourth period.
Seattle Pacific quickly took a double figure lead to start the final stanza and they never let the Cougars respond.
Casey was the only player in double figures for the Cougars as she scored 12 points in 29 minutes. Casey Wortley chipped-in a nine-point evening.
Azusa Pacific takes the next six days off as they prepare for a two-game trip to UC San Diego beginning next Friday, Nov. 25 against Cal State San Marcos before playing the host Tritons the following day.
