Elffers Highlights Cougars' All-GNAC Awards

AZUSA, Calif. -- Junior quarterback Andrew Elffers led a group of 11 Cougars named to the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team, earning Offensive Player of the Year honors while head coach Victor Santa Cruz was named GNAC Coach of the Year for leading his program to its first-ever NCAA Division II playoff appearance. The Cougars' first team recipients included six offensive players, led by Elffers and Carr, and joined by running back Kurt Scoby, tight end Josiah Thropay, and offensive linemen Sakalaia Hungalu and Joe Kupcikevicius. The five defensive players who earned first team recognition were defensive end Jason Schwartz, linebacker Mykal Walker, and a defensive back trio consisting of C.J. Broussard, Tyree Davis, and Taliuaki Suliafu. Davis also received another first team selection at kick returner, and he was the All-GNAC second team punt returner.
