Box Score LAIE, Hawaii – Before catching their flight back to the mainland, the Azusa Pacific women's soccer team secured a 1-0 win over BYU-Hawaii on Saturday afternoon.
The game ended the Cougars four-game stretch in Hawaii. After falling in their first game last Saturday, Azusa Pacific responded by not allowing a goal in three straight games (2-0-1).
Zoe Bauman notched her third straight shutout as the freshman made four saves. The Danville, California native has yet to allow a goal against the eight shots she has faced in 309:51 of action defending the Cougars goal.
An Amanda Hardy goal in the 31st minute was all the Cougars (4-6-1, 2-2-1) needed to secure the win on Saturday. The senior scored her second goal of the season when she controlled a corner kick off the foot of Mayra Almazan.
The Azusa Pacific defense stepped up their play in the final half. After allowing BYU-Hawaii (3-8, 2-4) four shots on goal in the first half, they were held without a shot in the second half.
The Cougars outshot the home team 14-6 overall and 5-4 in shots on frame. Azusa Pacific also won the corner kick battle (7-4). Almazan had a team high four shots.
Azusa Pacific returns home for a Thursday night match-up against Holy Names at 8 p.m.
