Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – Mix in a little bit of home cooking, sprinkled with a strong connection between the setter and middle hitters and you have a great recipe for a win.
Azusa Pacific dispatched of Notre Dame de Namur 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17) on Friday evening.
It was the Cougars second straight home win as they upped their overall record to 9-7 and 5-2 in PacWest play. Azusa Pacific will look to go a perfect 3-for-3 during this brief home stand tomorrow when they welcome Dominican at 3 p.m.
"The girls are comfortable playing at home," said head coach Chris Keife. "They really look forward to playing here especially when there's a good crowd behind us."
Sophomore Ashley Midland had a fantastic match for the home team. The middle hitter recorded a career best 13 kills to go along with a personal best .667 hitting percentage.
"Tonight I felt I connected really well with the setters. It was the best we have connected all season. I had so much fun getting up and having an excellent opportunity to put the ball away," Midland said.
Azusa Pacific trailed for only a few points early in the first set but, otherwise they were never tested by the Argonauts (0-16, 0-9).
Jaden Louie distributed most of the offense for the Cougars with a 24-assist evening. Kristina Kam had a match high 18 digs. Alica Utke also had a double-figure dig night with 10.
On the outside Mattie Shelford had an eight-kill effort while hitting .400.
The Argonauts were led by Bianca Alvarez's seven kills.
