Concordia 91
Azusa Pacific 83

IRVINE, Calif. -- A month ago, Azusa Pacific handed Concordia a 35-point setback in the Felix Event Center. Tonight, the unranked Eagles made up for it and then some.

Tristen Ryan and Sarah Flanagan hit back-to-back 3 pointers late in overtime to lift Concordia to a shocking, 91-83, win over No. 11 Azusa Pacific Saturday in Irvine.

The loss is the Cougars second in the past 3 games and drops them to 19-7 overall, 11-4 GSAC. Concordia picks up its biggest win of the season and improves to 12-11, 6-9.

Kelsey Hudson, who finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds, buried a 3-pointer to tie the game at 80-80 with 2:45 left in overtime. Ryan answered just 21 seconds later to push the lead back up to 3, and after a Cougar turnover, Flanagan rebounded a Ryan miss and buried a trey of her own to give the Eagles an insurmountable 86-80 advantage.

The Cougars got no closer than 5 the rest of the way.

Lindsey West led the Cougars with 19 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out.

Azusa Pacific erased all of a 10-point halftime deficit by scoring the first 15 points of the second half, capped by back-to-back jumpers by Alyssa Ferdaszewski, to take a 47-42 lead just 3:19 into the second half. The Cougars led for most of the second half but never by more than 6 points.

Carrie Twadell led all players with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Ryan chipped in with 20 points, keyed by a quartet of treys.

Ferdaszewski gave the Cougars a 63-57 lead with 6:30 left, but the Eagles scored 8 straight, 4 of them from Twadell, over the next 2 minutes to take a 65-63 lead.

At that point, the teams traded buckets and free throws as no lead grew bigger than 2 points. Monica Somers hit consecutive jumpers to give the Cougars a 72-70 lead with 38 seconds left, but Lauren Murray tied it up with a jumper with 9 seconds left. Sarah Leathers had 2 attempts for the game-winner but couldn’t hit either thus forcing overtime.

Ferdaszewski hit 4 three-pointers to key her way to 18 points. Somers finished with 11 points. Hudson grabbed 9 rebounds and had 5 assists.
