Cougars Sweep Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Senior Nick Padilla fired 4 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits, to run his consecutive scoreless inning streak to 10, as Azusa Pacific completed a doubleheader sweep of Westmont by taking the nightcap, 5-0, from the Warriors.
 
The win is the Cougars' sixth straight, eighth in their last 9 games and ninth in their past 11.  The Cougars also maintain their spot atop the GSAC standings at 6-1.
 
Junior Seth Johnson drove in 3 runs, and sophomore Matt Wiewel was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to provide the necessary offense for the Cougars.  Senior George Barnes worked 2 scoreless innings of relief, and senior B.J. Litchfield worked the seventh to shut the door.
 
In the opener, senior Matt Canada worked 6.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just 3 hits to pick up his second win of the season, as the Cougars dropped the Warriors, 6-1.
 
Senior Victor Ambruso finished 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs.  Senior Eric Ordorica was 2-for-5 with a double, and sophomore Robbie Lindsey was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
With the sweep, the Cougars improve to 10-6 overall, 6-1 GSAC.  Westmont drops to 3-14, 1-8.
