AZUSA, CALIF. -- Her timing couldn't have been any better.
After seeing a 21-point Azusa Pacific lead dwindled to 5, senior GSAC Player of the Year
Jacqueline Godoy hit her only bucket of the game and completed the 3-point play with 3:11 left propelling the Cougars to a 59-50 win over visiting Biola in front of 1,002 fans in the Felix Event Center.
The win the Cougars' eighth straight over the Eagles and 11
th in the past 12 games.
"They began to make their comeback with Jacqueline and Stephanie on the bench, so I wasn't too worried," said Azusa Pacific head coach Matt Elofson. "We went with a man press in the second half, but couldn't use it very much because we only made 6 baskets. I was really pleased with our first half and last 6 minutes of the game. We thought our match-up worked well, because they used 5 guards. But they were scoring guards, not necessarily ball-handlers."
