Cougars Remain Undefeated in GSAC

AZUSA, Calif. -- The NAIA's No. 22-ranked Azusa Pacific continued to tear through GSAC opponents, thumping Concordia 85-39 Friday night. The win was the seventh in a row for the Cougars and the sixth straight over the Eagles.

While the Cougars have out-scored 5 of their 7 conference opponents by at least 19 points, the stifling Cougar defense kept Concordia under wraps throughout the game. The Eagles committed 30 turnovers and shot an icy 25.5% (12-for-47) from the field. At the half, Concordia had managed just 14 points on 6-of-24 (25%) shooting from the field.

Junior guard Jacqueline Godoy led the way for the Cougars with another solid game across the board, tallying 13 points, a team-high 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Junior forward Stephanie Patten was the leading scorer for the Cougars, shooting 7-for-9 from the floor for a game-high 15 points. Junior guard Mandy Lindhe dropped in 14 points in 23 minutes of work off the bench. Azusa Pacific shot 60.3% (35-for-58), including a
63.3% (19-for-30) clip in the second half.

The Cougars enjoyed a 41-14 halftime advantage, thanks to 11 first-half points from Patten, then continued the onslaught in the second half with a 44-25 scoring advantage in the second half.

With the win, Azusa Pacific remains undefeated in GSAC play at 7-0, while improving to 11-5 on the season, while Concordia drops to 4-3 in GSAC, 8-9 overall.
