"For us, we needed to gain confidence out of this game after losing 2 of 3 last week," said Azusa Pacific head coach Danielle Jorgenson. "Every one has been keying on
(Allison)Box and her outside shot which has opened our inside game, and Barbone has benefited. We had well-rounded attack tonight."
Ten different Cougars scored in the game. Seniors
Jessica Herman and
Amy Lemm each tossed in 12 points while Box added 11 points on the strength of 3 second half treys.
Westmont was paced by Tena Mensonides' 11 points, 9 of which came in the first half. After Westmont fell behind 10-0 to start the game, Mensonides' led a comeback charge that was capped by her 3-point play to pull Westmont to within 2 at 14-12 with 12:09 left in the first half. It was at that point that Azusa Pacific and Barbone took control of the game.
