AZUSA, CALIF. – The NAIA's No. 16-ranked Azusa Pacific
surrendered just 14 points and needed less than 55 minutes to
dispose of Hope International in a GSAC match, 15-8, 15-5, 15-1.
All 11 available Cougars played and 4 different Cougars recorded
at least 5 kills, led by freshmen
Jenna Sagehorn and
Christy
Kimmel, who tallied 8 and 6 kills, respectively.
The Cougars fashioned a fine .373 hitting percentage while
limiting HIU to a -.400 mark. Four different Cougars managed a
clip over .500, led by
Lydia Ayala, who had 4 kills in 5 attempts in
just the one game she played. Ayala is still recovering from a
neck injury.
Azusa Pacific, which closed the match on a 23-4 run, improves to
18-5 overall, 8-4 in the GSAC to remain in third place. Hope
International falls to 4-19 overall, 0-12 in the GSAC.
