Point Loma Surprises Azusa Pacific

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. -- In a game that featured 11 lead changes in the second half alone, Point Loma Nazarene pulled off the upset of Azusa Pacific, 66–64. With the win the Lady Crusaders recorded their first GSAC victory of the season, improving their record to 5-11 overall, and 1-2 in the GSAC.

Point Loma was led by freshman Erin Kellar's 19 points and nine rebounds. The Lady Crusaders jumped out to the early lead in the first half, building a 13–point advantage going into halftime. The second half saw Point Loma's lead dwindle behind outstanding play of Cougar center Jennifer Barbone. Barbone, who was held to zero points in the first half, came out in the second half to score a game-high 25 points. Barbone was 11-of-11 in the second 20 minutes of play.

With one minute to play in the score 64–63 in APU's favor, Keller completed a three-point play from point Loma. Borbone was sent to the line with 17 seconds left in the game with a one-and-one situation at the free-throw line. Barbone missed the front end, ceiling the victory for Point Loma.

With the loss Azusa Pacific drops to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the GSAC.
