SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- Junior Amy Lemm scored 17 points and senior Alison Carr added 16 and 9 rebounds to lead Azusa Pacific to a 63-32 victory over Westmont College in GSAC play Saturday.
The Cougars led 18-12 with 7:05 left in the first half, then went on a 12-3 run to lead 28-15 at the break. Stingy defense prevented the Warriors from scoring for the first seven minutes of the second half, as Azusa Pacific put the game out of reach. The Cougars scored 35 points off of 39 Westmont turnovers, and Azusa Pacific's three starting guards combined for 12 steals and 9 rebounds.
Most of the evening's scoring came from the starting five for each squad, as they combined for 82 of the 95 points scored. Backcourt partners Kelly Speas and Catherine Solorio each scored 10 points for the Cougars, while guard Bernice Stime led Westmont with 10 points of her own.
With the victory, Azusa Pacific improves to 12-4 overall, 2-0 in GSAC play, while Westmont falls to 8-7 overall, 0-2 in conference.
