Season Comes to Screeching Halt

FRESNO, CALIF. -- Two goals in the final six minutes propelled No. 21 Fresno Pacific to a 2-0 victory over No. 23 Azusa Pacific in Fresno Saturday.

The loss abruptly ends the Cougars' season, as they will miss the postseason for the first time since 1991. APU completes the season with a 13-5-1 record, 6-4 in GSAC competition.

Sunbird forward Edgardo Contreras opened up a scoreless game in the 84th minute with a goal past Cougar keeper Tim Gorman, and FPU added another in the 89th minute to seal the win.
