AZUSA, Calif. -- For the first time in 15 years, Azusa Pacific eclipsed the century mark in scoring and in the process, thumped Whittier, 103-74, Saturday night in Azusa.

Junior, Christy Brock led a Cougar onslaught with a season-high 29 points, including 19 in the first half when Azusa Pacific raced out to a 58–37 cushion. Sophomore guard, Jenny Miller, coming back from reconstructive knee surgery last March, enjoyed her best game of the season, tallying 15 points (all in the first half) to go along with six assists, and two steals.

Whittier was led by three-point bomber Brenna Holcomb, who canned seven treys on her way to 27 points.

Yet it wasn't enough to offset the hot-shooting Cougars, who made 42-of-74 shots (.568), including an impressive 25-for-37 clip in the first 20 minutes.

Junior forward Jenny Simmons tossed in a career-high 22 points, and sophomore guard Kelly Speas added 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting.

 Brock, who had been mired in a shooting slump, made 11-of-16 shots and handed out a season-high 7 assists and collected a season-high 4 steals as well.

For the Cougars, the 103 points are the most scored since Azusa Pacific beat Loyola Marymount, 105-55, in Azusa in 1981,

With the victory, Azusa Pacific snapped a three-game losing streak and improves to 5-4 on the season while Whittier falls to 3-1.
