AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific took advantage of an atrociously bad shooting Cal Baptist and pummeled the Lancers, 74–46, and a Golden State Athletic Conference game in Azusa, Tuesday night.
The Lancers missed 21 of their first 26 shots while allowing Azusa Pacific to jump out to a 27–10 lead. Wynette, Allenn and Elena Gomez, the Lancers, top two scorers, combined for a frigid 2-for-12 clip during the dry run. Meanwhile, Azusa Pacific, canned 11 of its first 20 shots and cruised in for a comfortable 34-16 halftime lead. To to make matters worse, Cal Baptist committed all 27 of its turnovers in the first half.
The Lancers rallied in the second half by making their first five shots and cutting the Cougar lead to 34–26. However Azusa Pacific responded with a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach at 44-26 with 14:12 left in the game.

Christy Brock scored a season-high 27 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assist to lead the Cougars. Brock had other matters on her mind, though. Her father, Jeff, passed away last night in their home in Eugene, Ore., after a year-long battle with cancer. She is leaving the team tomorrow to be with her family the rest of the week. Christy Heyer added 12 points and 11 rebounds to record for ninth double/double of the season.
Allen led Cal Baptist with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Lancers finish the game, shooting a paltry, 29.7% (19–for-64) from the field, while the Cougars knocked down 43.8% (29–for-60) of the shots.
The victory improves Azusa Pacific's record to 14–5 overall, 4–2, and GSAC play. Meanwhile, Cal Baptist suffers its ninth straight defeat and falls to 7–16 overall, 0–6 in the conference.
