Biola Snaps Cougars' Fun

LA MIRADA, CALIF. —  Down 28-19 with three minutes left in the first half, Biola went on a 22-4 run over the next seven minutes to take a commanding 41-32 lead and then held on for a 68-59 victory over Azusa Pacific in a Golden State Athletic Conference game in La Mirada, Saturday night

Sophomore guard Courtney Dunham led the Eagles with 20 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Azusa Pacific was led by freshman guard Christy Brock, who dropped in a game-high 25 points, but was held to nine points in the second half.

Down 59-47 with six minutes to play, Azuza Pacific rallied to cut the Biola lead to 61-57 with two minutes remaining, but the Cougars were unable to get any closer.

Biola buried Azuza Pacific on the glass, 56-33. The Cougars came into the game as a GSAC's top rebounding team, but the Eagles collected 31 offensive boards, including six in the final two minutes to hold onto the lead.

With the victory, Biola snaps Azuza Pacific's seven-game winning streak, and all but assures the GSAC championship for Fresno Pacific, which now leads the Cougars by a game-and-a-half with two conference games remaining.

Biola improves to 13-15 overall, 4-6 in the GSAC. Azuza Pacific falls to 11-15 overall, 7-4 in the GSAC.
