CLAREMONT - Azusa Pacific University women's basketball team rallied from behind to beat Pomona-Pitzer, 56-54.

The Cougars fell behind, 42-39, with 9 minutes left in the game, but they used a full-court press defense and held Pomona-Pitzer to only 2 points during the rest of the second half.

APU's Amy Walter, a senior center, scored 17 points, including 13 points and 8 rebounds in the second half.  Holly Ingersoll contributed 12 points for the Cougars.  Ingersoll and Stephanie Perdomo combined for 10 assists.

Christy Pollard and Laura Aronson each had 8 points for the Cougars (8-1).

Pomona-Pitzer (5-3) had only three scorers and were led by Anne Backus, who scored 25 points, including three 3-pointers. Teammate Karyn Cranston had 16 points.
