Colleen Kausrud

Colleen Kausrud is the only head coach in the history of Azusa Pacific’s acrobatics & tumbling program, which is a founding member of the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) since the organization’s inception in 2011. She has taken Azusa Pacific to the highest level of NCATA competition without the Division I resources of the program’s primary rivals.

Her eight-year coaching record is 33-34 with over 60 percent of her coaching record coming against NCAA Division I schools. Her record against Division II & III programs is 20-5.

In eight years leading Azusa Pacific, Kausrud guided the Cougars to NCATA semifinals appearances six times, including a run of four consecutive NCATA semifinals from 2012-15, and she was named NCATA Coach of the Year in 2013. She led the program to a national runner-up finish at the 2014 NCATA National Championships, which have been hosted by Azusa Pacific twice (2014, 2017).

Kausrud has an extensive background in competitive cheer, acrobatics and tumbling, and fitness training. She served for six years (2003-08) as the West Coast representative for the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders (FCC), has provided coaching and instruction at numerous camps and clinics, and for four years (1999-2003) she was the competition coach at Western Christian High School in Covina.  She joined Azusa Pacific in 2005 as the cheer coach, leading the program to the 2010 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) national championship for the All-Girl Division III classification. A year later, she successfully transitioned Azusa Pacific’s competitive cheer program into one of six founding members of the NCATA.

Kausrud is certified by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA), and she is the president of the National Christian Fitness Association (NCFA). She is also an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified fitness and kickboxing instructor. She grew up in Southern California, graduating from Whittier Christian High School before attending Vanguard University (which was then called Southern California College).

Kausrud and her husband Todd have been married 36 years with two daughters (Jenifer, Laurie), and they reside in Norco.
